We tend to be really good at beginnings. Engagements, new relationships, weddings, baby blessings... we love those—the emotions, the excitement, the coming together. But endings? The moments when you feel the ground has fallen out from beneath you? When you feel alone in navigating the turmoil and chaos? We are pretty terrible at them.
For most of us, no one taught us how to be present with the end of anything, so is it any surprise that we feel awkward and lost at those times? A relationship at an impasse, a job that is driving you crazy, a child transitioning from infancy to toddlerhood or childhood to teen... not to mention what tends to be the biggest ‘ending’-- death. Most of may not even be super intentional in endings with our "stuff" - even though we're conditioned to dispose of everything from coffee cups to cell phones without too much thought to their next steps. Our inability to navigate endings means we spend so much of our good times time fearful of when the other shoe will drop, or squeamish with anguish or confusion when an ending is actually present. We do whatever we can to escape endings - medicating ourselves, distraction, diving into the contentiousness we expect, or jumping right into a new thing as soon as we can.
Dawn shares how to be present with all stages of transition, chaos, and change, as well as tools and strategies for developing resilience and compassion for yourself and others. Develop an understanding of when stillness and limbo may be essential to discernment, when it is okay and wise to take action, and how to manage chaos and uncertainty effectively. Dawn draws on years of research in effective decision-making and navigating major change skillfully in her work as a non-traditional career coach and speaker, as well as her decade of experience as a interfaith minister working with individuals and couples at every stage. With a balance of lessons from spiritual teachings and neuroscience - Dawn helps you create a roadmap through endings so you can find peace, regain the ground beneath your feet, and embrace your new normal.
